Dr. Ooi (she/her) is the founder of Ensemble Healthcare. She has been caring for pregnant women here in Calgary for more than 20 years. She loves getting to know her patients and their families, and being a part of their journey from pregnancy to parenthood. As a member of the Low Risk Maternity Clinic group she is typically on call delivering babies at the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) once a week.
Dr. Ooi developed the Group Prenatal Education program at the Riley Park Maternity Clinic, and as a group facilitator she has seen firsthand the benefits of group sessions on the wellbeing of her patients and their families. As a member of the Quality Council on the Postpartum Unit at FMC she has been instrumental in initiatives centered around two topics that she is passionate about: breastfeeding and maternal mental health.
She loves to spend time with her husband, and their three children. They ski in the winter, hike in the summer, and play board games any chance they get.

Prenatal care providers in Calgary include: Family Physicians, Obstetricians and Midwives. All of these services are covered by Alberta Health.
You can start seeing a prenatal care provider in the first trimester. Some Family Physicians offer prenatal care further into the pregnancy and transfer care to a prenatal care provider in the second trimester of pregnancy.
In Calgary there are groups of Family Physicians with special training in Obstetrics. On top of prenatal and postpartum care, we can manage issues within the scope of Family Medicine and we care for your newborn up until 4-6 weeks of age. Family Physicians can care for a number of complications in pregnancy, but if you have medical conditions or develop complications that are out of our scope of care we will refer you to an Obstetrician Gynecologist for care. -
Care under Dr. Ooi makes the most sense if you are carrying a single pregnancy, and are planning a vaginal delivery at the Foothills Medical Centre.
Women who have certain medical conditions may require care with an Obstetrician Gynecologist. Before starting your prenatal care, Dr. Ooi will send you an intake questionnaire and schedule an initial phone call to review your medical history. -
Women cared for at Ensemble Healthcare deliver at the Foothills Medical Centre. Dr. Ooi has practiced with the Riley Park Maternity Clinic physicians since 2004, and her patients are under the care of the Sunnyside/Low Risk Maternity Clinic call group.
